"Goldie the Westy is rad. My wife and I rented the Westy and proceeded to plan one of the best trips we have ever been on around this awesome van! The Westfalia is the ultimate road tripping machine and it's hard to understand that until you spend a week living in a one. Everything in Goldie serves a convenient purpose. We took this Golden chariot from the west coast of Olympic National Park to the East side of the Northern Cascades, camping everywhere in between. She got us up mountain forest roads to high trail heads and through Washington pass without skipping a beat. The van is retro but very well taken care of. There's something pretty awesome about driving a Westfalia through the PNW. You will get the Westy wave a lot and even the most seasoned road trippers will drop the "nice Westy" line when you are roaming around in a rig like Goldie. Mike is really easy to communicate with and very helpful with any questions about the van. His vans are all very well taken care of and he keeps them running strong. He also gave me some incredible personal recs on places to see and camp. The one thing I would recommend is bringing or buying an ice chest if you plan on being out for a long stretch as the fridge can only hold so much. Goldie was built in 1986 the same year we were. This made it all the more special for us. I'll miss hiking around a corner and seeing the Westy nose peaking through the trees at us waiting for us to return to camp. All in all, for weeks to come we will be dreaming of cruising through the mountains in Goldie, windows down listening to Jim James with no plan on where we will end up next. There is something really unique about driving and sleeping in a Westy; it gives you a sense of being out in nature much more than RVs, but is much more comfortable and enjoyable than regular car camping. "Our trip, with Black Forest Westfalias, was awesome. The process was easy and Mike is great. Love that he has chosen to share his classic vans with the public. We got to experience "Goldie" with a just installed upgraded engine and it performed flawlessly, up and down numerous mountain passes through British Columbia and the Cascades. Mike truly cares about his vans and it shows. These vans are not for everyone. They are over 30 years old and need to be treated with patience and extra care. You need to have the mindset to "want to" pull over frequently, to let just about everyone else pass you. You can't be in a rush. They are meant to be driven around 45 mph, barefoot, with the windows down and the music up. While fun to drive, the van shines when parked. It is the perfect camp. "My wife and I loved renting Mike's Vanagon. The van is in amazing condition and drives so much better than other Westys we've had experience with. We drove another Westy the week before, and the van was not even close to as nice as Mike's Westy. The van has been tastefully modified with items that truly improve the experience. The suspension is incredibly smooth and worked great getting into the Hoh rainforest. Mike was incredibly helpful every step of the process and we plan on renting from him again. "To celebrate "ten years of friendship" my gal pal flew over from London for a road trip. We drove all over the Olympic Peninsula and Goldie was the star. She never let us down, kept us warm, dry and safe.

The owner, Mike, was very kind and thorough when he gave us the "Goldie Tour." (She comes with a kitchen, multiple sleeping areas and each lever has a job & function.) Although she is a few decades old, she is extremely reliable. I believe that is because she is extremely well taken care of by her owner.

"Had a great trip on the Olympic Peninsula and Mt Rainier with my college student daughter. My first time using a camper van. Everything is there: transport, storage, refrigeration, cook stove, sleeping, shelter (it rains sometimes on the OP!). Gretel was fun and easy to drive. Mechanically fit. Clean and well provisioned with everything you need for camping. This is the perfect way to see the area and cover a lot of ground at a relaxed pace. "We had a great time with Goldie doing the Olympic Peninsula loop. When we picked up Goldie from Mike at Black Forest Westfalias, she was clean and all ready to go. Mike went over the features of Goldie and was very patient in answering all our questions before we headed off on our adventure.

We took Goldie from Seattle to the Hoh Rainforest to Kalaloch to Hurricane Ridge and she did great. It was so nice to be able to pull into our campsite at the Hoh Rainforest in a rainstorm and not worry about setting up a tent in the dark and in the rain. We were able to cook and enjoy our dinner in the comfy interior of the Westy. It was so nice!

Goldie was super easy to drive. The engine has plenty of power and the ride is smooth and comfortable. Everything works the way it is supposed to, and it was just a lot of fun. Every other VW camper we saw waved at us and we now feel like we are part of the 'tribe'!
